Batteries are collected by schools involved in the Recycle with Fun programme

School from all over the Czech Republic are actively involved in battery collection. The Recycle with Fun to Clean Up the World programme for schools has been held under the auspices of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic since 2008 with over 3,800 participants from among schools. The project is designed for all kindergartens, primary and secondary schools in the Czech Republic and participation is completely free of charge. Collection containers for used batteries, waste small electrical appliances, toners and cartridges, and also subsequent transportation once the containers are filled up is free of charge.

The programme is financially supported by the ECOBAT and ELEKTROWIN collective systems of the Czech Republic that specialise in take-back and recycling of batteries and electrical appliances.

Environmental education and personal experience

The main purpose of the Recycle with Fun programme is to enhance the knowledge of children in the field of waste sorting and recycling and to make it possible to acquire personal experience with the take-back of batteries and used small electrical appliances. To educators, the project offers stimulating teaching materials.
